This particular shoot was a collaboration between myself, Sass Kia and talented shibari rigger Katie. It took place in a recently burnt out section of forest just south of Byron Bay on a mostly overcast and sometimes rainy day, which added to the ambiance of the location.
This was a documentation of the process of shibari as much as it was to show the final art piece. The main aim of this shoot was to record the incorporation of Sass and the rope patterns within the surrounding landscape. What interested me the most was the small details. Not only the detail of the rope ties and the imprints left behind on Sass’ skin but in all the natural elements surrounding her.
