Bombo is one of those magical locations. Full of incredible rock structures and ocean pools, the photo opportunities are plentiful. I’d been really looking forward to visiting and shooting at this special place ever since my first shoot here with Roarie Yum back in January 2015.
It was the middle of the day when Sass and I visited Bombo back in March 2017. It was hot and we were interrupted by some guys flying a drone around so we only really spent around an hour there. At first we found some shaded areas up against the tall rock wall but the sun eventually made it’s way around causing the shade to disappear.
We then moved down to a lower section where the rock pools were still in shade. Here the still water was reflecting the clear sky, surrounding Sass in blue. Finally, I decided to embrace the direct sunlight, placing Sass amongst the bright orange rocks bellow the rock wall create some colourful and contrasty images by exposing for Sass’s skin to ensure detail was retained and then pulling the shadows up in post to show more detail.
